So today is a mini post about some little cheap finds I found in my favourite drug store shop Superdrug. I am always browsing through Superdrug, and this time me and my best friend Vicky found some lovely little items that drew our eye, and then led us to draw on our eyes after purchasing. So I thought I would share them with you. 1. Beauty uk - Eye liner and shadow PencilThe first item is something that I decided that morning that I was missing from my collection. After finding an obsessive love in High School with Kohl eye liner and over doing it, so much so that my high school photos made me look like a crying mime, I decided to stay far away from it. However, these days, I find that I love doing smokey eyes more than natural, so opted to find one. This item was £1...yes you heard me right, and I have to admit that the black eye liner has become part of my look, and is here to stay. All I do is apply a thin line below my water line, and smudge it in with the eye shadow of choice that day and I love it. The white eye shadow is something I chose to use as a base for my eye shadow looks. You can of course get a combination of colours that you love, that this pencil can come with a rose gold colour in which I was tempted to get as well! 2. Beauty UK - Eye Shadow and Eye liner collection No.2This palette is a god send. The colours are vibrant and very pigmented, and I have fallen in love with the burnt orange shade that comes in this kit, and I am wearing it every day. All of the shadows can create a very sun kissed, bronze goddess look which I am wearing more and more these days - trying to change the weather one eye at a time. The liners aren't as pigmented but I love using them to blend in on my lash line before applying false lashes, and yes. Once again, this beauty is £1. 3. Beauty UK - Baked blush No.2 Now I will fully admit that I purchased this item for the packaging as it is an adorable little box, with a perfect mirror. This is the perfect colour, for just a hint of pink, maybe for those searching for a more natural look, or if you are new to make-up. As with work, I can often not be bothered to do a full face of make-up, this blush is perfect to add a quick subtle hint of colour, although it will not last through out the day, so I often top it up around 2 in the afternoon, which for a £1 you cannot argue with. 4. B. Groomed - Eyebrow Kit This kit isn't a £1, but definitely worth the £5.19 price tag, as trust me. This is the most natural colour for eyebrows you will find. I am using the colour 052, which resembles my natural mousey brown colour, and seems to fit everyone with a brown shade that has tried it. The colour is super natural and waxy, and makes your brows look like they are naturally thick and luscious.
As I have a very lovely boyfriend who sits patiently when I often talk to about my hatred for eyebrows, was very impressed when I showed him one eyebrow filled in with this product, and one not. Even as a make-up novice, he was super impressed with how natural it looked. I would whole heartedly recommend this product, for those of you like me, who hates the thick block most brow products can cause, and the hefty price label some items that cause natural brows can cost. So there you have it, my mini Superdrug Haul with mini reviews! Let me know if you have used any of these, and what you would recommend! And to brighten your day - a goofy gif of my love Colin Firth

So! In case you are wondering - that is me above; and no, I'm not losing my mind. Last night, me and my best friend Vicky, decided to do some make-up transformations (As you do when you are bored on a girls night), and instead of doing normal make-up looks, we decided to change genders and age. I stumbled upon this idea when watching a great video from one of my favourite YouTubers - Kat Sketch - where she changed gender, and age. So I thought, hey! It looked fun, so why the hell not? It ended up in some pretty funny results so I thought I would share it with you! So this is the first transformation - where I turned myself into a male and Vicky (Scared by the outcome of whether she would be a more attractive male than female) turned herself into "Jack's" trashy girlfriend, inspired by "What not to wear your make-up like in high school" although we all know someone who did. For some reason, I am ridiculously attracted to myself, and I remind myself of a K-Pop band member and Vicky reminds me of when I discovered make-up and thought. They wouldn't make a foundation colour that didn't naturally match right? Wait... is orange not better? Of course Vicky's look was paired with the obvious trademark messy bun, trout pout, and crop top that I am seeing way too many of these days! Although looking through my instagram photos I can see that I wear them myself...Hey! If it works it works! My next transformation was to an old lady, and my god I was shocked by the results. I clearly do not age well, and remind my friends of a grumpy old school teacher. When you pair me and Vicky together, we look like the old birds on a night out - with Vicky reminding me of a granny (Or a GILF if you will) who is piling on the make-up to pretend she isn't as old as she is. I will however admit that taking it off was super fun, and seeing me both young and old was rather terrifying.
This was such fun to do, and other than the horror on my boyfriend's face when he refused to kiss the crazy old lady and the male that appeared around the corner in the front room, the laughter that came screaming through mine and Vicky's mouth when we looked up from our mirrors to look at each other really made it a wonderful night. So! I would love to see any of your transformations, and let me know if you would like to see how I "Transformed". Set your mind back to when you last tried to take a selfie. If you are anything like me, then you take thousands of photos to find the perfect one and even then you decide that you look like Shrek with no make up on and leave it anyway. Well! For fellow Shreks like me - Welcome your first Lazy Girl Hack - YouCamMakeup. YouCamMakeup is a wonderfully strange app that applies make up to your face for just a photo and it truly is a mixed bag of results. I have taken some cleverly arty shots that made my face look like it was in full coverage but I had not an inch of make-up on me, and no one could tell the difference. Don't believe me? Well excuse my overly "Pouty Instagram face" and take a look! The app gave me false eyelashes, eyeshadow, foundation and lipgloss. I can guarantee that I was not wearing an inch of makeup underneath with the pure fact that - I'm too lazy to do so. It doesn't stop there! This time it gave me the classic smokey eye and red lip look. The app contains many "looks" such as Cleo, Ravishing, and Swan - each giving you a different look, but it also allows you to change each element to your liking such as lip and eye colour! This app does take some getting used to, as you have to align yourself perfectly so that the eyelashes don't warp around your face leaving some hilarious mess ups. Did I say mess up? I meant clearly I always put my eyelashes on my actual eyeball - it adds a lovely effect don't you think? And if you have a boyfriend like mine who is up for a giggle, then you can get some equally hilarious beauty shots of him! Wait did I say he was willing to do it? Oh...I meant I took off his glasses so he couldn't see. Though you have to admit! He is alluring in red! So there you have it. A way to wear no make-up at all, and yet...still be wearing it! I'm not saying that this is the sneakiest thing to do, especially when taking selfies in public. I tried experimenting whilst waiting for Geran in a game shop, and I ended up capturing a confused looking woman in the background, watching the eyelashes bounce around my face; but this is definantly a fun experiment for when you really cannot be bothered. Though remember! The greatness of being a lazy girl, or any girl for that matter, is that you don't need make-up to look gorgeous! You're perfect the way you are! So embrace your Shrek face for what it is! A perfect canvas to show your unique and natural self. Great...Now I just realised that if my metaphor is correct... that Geran is Fiona. I wandered why he looked so great in lipstick. As a girl who hates the constant chipping of nails, but hates the price of fake nails from a salon, I am always trying to find dupes that give the same effect, for something that anyone can do! I hate spending hours on nails that get destroyed within seconds! Who else suddenly has to do things as soon as your nail polish is on? No mother, I don't want to talk on the phone right now! I'm still drying! So I was thrilled to walk into my local Poundworld and find these beauties! Sally Hansen is a well known brand that has a great effect but also a hefty price tag so I was curious to see if these pound shop boxes would be just as great. Because, who doesn't want to put their faith in Poundworld? So, my first mistake was not reading the box properly...or at all for that matter. It clearly tells you that you need a UV lamp to complete the process, which I happily glanced over and ignored. Who has a UV lamp anyway? So inside contains 16 nail strips, one bottle of gel, wipes and cute dinky equipment to prep your nails. Not to mention the big, long scary instructions that I didn't read. Second mistake. After wiping down your nails, and shaping them with the utensils, you're good to go, and you can apply the nail strips which are actually a bit complicated to get used to. They have three layers. A see through film on top, the actual nail strip and the sticky back that they are attached to with a bit of tape. That alone scared the living crap out of me, and caused me to cringe as I wasted around 5 of the nail strips as I got used to taking them apart. Third mistake. There are instructions there for a reason Jacqui! Once you get the hang of them, they are really easy to apply and attach easily and really quickly. One thing I do hate about nail strips is that they never fit my nail properly, and are either too big or too small which leaves little gaps of my actual nail either side which people love to point out. "You missed a bit" But these nails fit perfectly, and are so easy to correct if you make a mistake. No more having to glare angrily back at those people and shouting "It's hard to be girly you know!" The next step is the inevitable huge mistake. I applied the *Gulp* gel coat and waited. And waited. And waited. Fourth mistake. The gel wouldn't dry and I was sat awkwardly with my nails pointed to the sky for half an hour like a muppet! I couldn't for the life of me figure out what on earth was going on! So after all of this time I happened to glance at the box, and rolled my eyes so far into my skull I think I spotted my stomach. I was such an idiot and realised that this was never going to dry, not to mention the fact that my eyes were watering from the pure - clearly toxic, smell that was steaming off my nails.
So I grabbed the wipes that had started this oh so hopeful adventure a little while ago and scraped the gel off my nails and pondered about my next move. Of course I wasn't going to waste £1 on an hour long failure of an adventure so I decided to fix the problem with good old top coat. I applied around 3 layers of a cheap top coat I managed to rummage out of my makeup box and did the muppet stretch once again until they were dry. After all of my failing, I finally did something right. My nails dried with a lovely sheen and the strips haven't budged since. I have been for several family meals, had plenty of showers and washed my hands consistently every day and other than a slight buffing and the fact that my nails are growing (As seen in the picture above which was taken around 2 weeks after application) they are still intact! I am genuinely shocked by this product, as I have dealt with nail wraps numerous times before, and they tend to last through your first shower but then fall off miserable and lifeless to the ground, in a pathetic bid for attention to my annoyance. However, these nails have stayed intact religiously since application. So if you are lazy like me, and want to look like you spend hundreds of hours and pounds on a manicure with (almost) zero effort then I would definantly give these a go! I picked these up in Poundworld but you can definantly pick them up off the internet if you want to be even lazier and get them delivered. Which now I think of it ... I should have done! So work it girl! With all that minimal effort, you deserve to flaunt it! I know how hard it is to find the perfect scent, and as you can guess from the little collection of perfumes that I own, that I constantly change mine. From fruity, to wood scent, from day to night, you need a perfume that does it all, but let's face it. You can never find one. So here are mine, and what I think of them, just in case you wanted some suggestions. 1. Wonderstruck - Taylor Swift 10/10 This has to be my favourite scent at the moment, and that is not just my love for Taylor Swift. For starters, the bottle is gorgeous by itself with little charms and a beautiful colour. The box is just as gorgeous, which I would have shown you but...Let's be honest here, I forgot. The scent is a simple day scent, that is light enough to spritz daily, but strong enough to last until after work drinks. Not only did I get this wonderful perfume on offer for £10 on offer in Superdrug, but I also got the promotional handbag for free, which is a new concept to me but when the cashier handed it over to me I almost cried with joy. I highly recommend this scent, and for the price and the quality, it's hard to say no. Katy Perry - Royal Revolution 6/10 This is the first perfume I purchased when I got my new job as a present for myself, and as you can see from the picture, there is none of it left. Are you like me, where you hate getting rid of perfume bottles, because they are too damn pretty. Anyway I digress - as the name suggests, this is quite a statement scent, which I would happily use for evenings out and dates. Although the scent is quite deep, it doesn't actually last long at all which is a bit of a let down, however the bottle is such a handy size that you can pop it into your bag, and spritz away throughout the day. Once again, I got this from Superdrug on an offer (noticing a pattern here? Honestly, I swear that in my head, no where else sells perfume, no matter how hard I try) and I purchased this one in a set with shower gel and lotion for £12, and although I do admit that it is good for the money. I wouldn't purchase it again, only due to me finding other scents that suit me better. The Body Shop - Moringa 8/10 Good news for all floral fans that can never find something deep enough to last. I have found your new best friend. After recently losing my Body Shop virginity, I have found love with the Moringa scent. Even though the bottle isn't going to be a display model on my bedside table the scent alone, makes me give a high score. This is a deep floral scent, that can take you from day to night, with no fear of the need of rubbing off. I will admit that I sprayed a bit on my sleeve in the Body Shop, and spent the rest of the day sniffing it contently to the worried looks from passersby. Although I adore this spray, I will admit that the body shop can get a bit pricey, this little bottle will be a great edition to your collection. Ralph Lauren - Ralph 9/10 This is definantly my second favourite of the bunch. This is one of the freshest scents that I have come across, from such an unexpected place. After smelling almost every sample in Boots, I stumbled across this little gem. This is very much a day scent, that once spritzed on your clothes, will last all day. At £14.99 it is definantly worth the price, and for Ralph Lauren, it is a mighty bargain. I treated myself to a 30 ml bottle, and it has lasted me a few months, and seen me through some days that I needed a little boost. A definite recommendation, and it would make a wonderful present for any picky friends or family. Lady Gaga - Fame 9/10
Black like the night, this is one of my top nighttime scents, with a gorgeous bottle to top. A deep scent, that lasts through the night and don't fear. The black liquid, comes out clear although I haven't dared to risk it on anything white. Another bargain deal from superdrug at just £15 for a big set, that included a gorgeous shower gel, that terrified the life out of me when pure black appeared on my shower scrub. This is definitely a scent for anyone who wants to go one a mysterious rendezvous, or if you are boring like me, a night out with the girls. I hope that this has helped you find a new scent, or even made you laugh at my bargain deals. Let me know what your recommendations are! Much love x Please note that even though I mentioned Superdrug a bajillion times, I am not endorsed by them, or any other companies mentioned in this post, just my honest opinions! I know how it feels, when you have zero money but you wish you had all the make up that your favorite stars do. You start to trawl through all of your make up bags to find something that will do, and go mental when you can't find it. Well, like I always say (Or maybe I just thought it now?), get the basics down, and then just experiment! It doesn't matter what you do with your eyes, if your mascara is clumpy! So here are my favorite Drug Store deals, that let you get the basics down, and still have money to spare! 1. Rimmel Wake me up foundation - £6.00 This foundation is my favorite to use when it is sunny like it is now (Touch wood), as it is light enough so that it won't budge in the heat but will still cover your blemishes wonderfully. It really does wake up your skin after a hard days... reading. 2. Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - £4.00 I love this concealer so much. I have dark circles which I hate, and this concealer not only covers them but everything else too! Seriously, £4.00 and you have the strength of a £20.00 tube. 3. Rimmel - Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick - £5.00 I have to admit, that I am a complete addict to lipstick, and I am a fiend for trying every color under the sun, even if it doesn't suit me straight away. This lipstick stays on my lips all day (Although beware sandwich eaters - you do tend to eat it off if you are as messy as me). Even my boyfriend appreciates that he doesn't pull away from kissing me looking like Dame Edna. I highly recommend trying number 30 (a dark rouge) and the fire truck red. 4. MUA Eyeliner - £1.00 Now this is a mixed feeling for me. It's one of those items that I use daily, and keep meaning to replace with a better version but never do. It's black, easy to apply, and stays on all day. For one pound, you really cannot complain. My eyeliner has lasted for months and has no sign of drying out, so who can complain? 5. Revolution Eye shadow Palette - £3-7 I am the biggest fan of bright eye shadow colors, and nothing annoys me more than none pigmented eye shadow that I have spent so much money on. So when I stumbled across these lovelies, I was merrily surprised. These colors are bright, long-lasting and beautifully colored. All of the palettes have different arrays of colors that can take you from the day to the night with ease. So there you have it! My drug store favorites. Make-up that is kind to your bank balance, but great to your style. Let me know what are your drug store favorites, and if you have any looks you love to create! Much love x |
