As a girl who hates the constant chipping of nails, but hates the price of fake nails from a salon, I am always trying to find dupes that give the same effect, for something that anyone can do! I hate spending hours on nails that get destroyed within seconds! Who else suddenly has to do things as soon as your nail polish is on? No mother, I don't want to talk on the phone right now! I'm still drying! So I was thrilled to walk into my local Poundworld and find these beauties! Sally Hansen is a well known brand that has a great effect but also a hefty price tag so I was curious to see if these pound shop boxes would be just as great. Because, who doesn't want to put their faith in Poundworld? So, my first mistake was not reading the box properly...or at all for that matter. It clearly tells you that you need a UV lamp to complete the process, which I happily glanced over and ignored. Who has a UV lamp anyway? So inside contains 16 nail strips, one bottle of gel, wipes and cute dinky equipment to prep your nails. Not to mention the big, long scary instructions that I didn't read. Second mistake. After wiping down your nails, and shaping them with the utensils, you're good to go, and you can apply the nail strips which are actually a bit complicated to get used to. They have three layers. A see through film on top, the actual nail strip and the sticky back that they are attached to with a bit of tape. That alone scared the living crap out of me, and caused me to cringe as I wasted around 5 of the nail strips as I got used to taking them apart. Third mistake. There are instructions there for a reason Jacqui! Once you get the hang of them, they are really easy to apply and attach easily and really quickly. One thing I do hate about nail strips is that they never fit my nail properly, and are either too big or too small which leaves little gaps of my actual nail either side which people love to point out. "You missed a bit" But these nails fit perfectly, and are so easy to correct if you make a mistake. No more having to glare angrily back at those people and shouting "It's hard to be girly you know!" The next step is the inevitable huge mistake. I applied the *Gulp* gel coat and waited. And waited. And waited. Fourth mistake. The gel wouldn't dry and I was sat awkwardly with my nails pointed to the sky for half an hour like a muppet! I couldn't for the life of me figure out what on earth was going on! So after all of this time I happened to glance at the box, and rolled my eyes so far into my skull I think I spotted my stomach. I was such an idiot and realised that this was never going to dry, not to mention the fact that my eyes were watering from the pure - clearly toxic, smell that was steaming off my nails.
So I grabbed the wipes that had started this oh so hopeful adventure a little while ago and scraped the gel off my nails and pondered about my next move. Of course I wasn't going to waste £1 on an hour long failure of an adventure so I decided to fix the problem with good old top coat. I applied around 3 layers of a cheap top coat I managed to rummage out of my makeup box and did the muppet stretch once again until they were dry. After all of my failing, I finally did something right. My nails dried with a lovely sheen and the strips haven't budged since. I have been for several family meals, had plenty of showers and washed my hands consistently every day and other than a slight buffing and the fact that my nails are growing (As seen in the picture above which was taken around 2 weeks after application) they are still intact! I am genuinely shocked by this product, as I have dealt with nail wraps numerous times before, and they tend to last through your first shower but then fall off miserable and lifeless to the ground, in a pathetic bid for attention to my annoyance. However, these nails have stayed intact religiously since application. So if you are lazy like me, and want to look like you spend hundreds of hours and pounds on a manicure with (almost) zero effort then I would definantly give these a go! I picked these up in Poundworld but you can definantly pick them up off the internet if you want to be even lazier and get them delivered. Which now I think of it ... I should have done! So work it girl! With all that minimal effort, you deserve to flaunt it!

haha this actually reminds me of my gel nail varnish story... after 1h of waiting for it to dry I simply gave up... removed it and moved into a normal polish... it took me days to actually check the box and notice UV lamp requirement
